Abstract

1343748 Tunnelling machines ATLAS COPCO AB 25 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 8750/ 72 Heading E1F A tunnel-boring machine has a large rotary boring head 16 carried by a forward frame 12 that is laterally steerable on actuation of motor means 46, 47 extending between it and a rear frame 13 to which it is pivotally connected at 48, and the rear frame 13 has a rearwardly extending slide bar 35 that is slidably guided in an anchoring device 37 so that vertical steering of the machine can be effected by raising and lowering the slide bar in the anchoring device. Power actuated clutches are provided for locking the hinge connection between the frames.
