Abstract
1343377 Pistons SOC AMO 6 June 1972 [14 June 1971] 26308/72 Heading F2T A piston for an I.C. engine comprises a forged light metal body 3 which forms a part of the combustion chamber, and a metal cap 12 which is provided with two or more annular grooves for forming a closed chamber 14 and a chamber 15 circulated with cooling fluid. The cap 12 has the same expansion as that of the light metal, may be made of ferrous or non-ferrous metal, and may be fastened to the body by screwing or shrinking-on. The closed chamber 14 may contain air, gas or a salt. Ducts 17, 18 circulate cooling oil to and from the chamber 15, an additional cooling chamber 15<SP>1</SP> also being provided in the cooling circuit.
