Abstract

1343069 Liquid treatment apparatus VALD HENRIKSEN AS 19 April 1971 [17 April 1970] 26171/71 Heading D1L An endless length of material 14 is treated with liquid whilst circulating in a closed circuit container 1. The container 1 comprises a wider channel, with a constant radius of curvature, and a narrower channel 5. There is also provided a by-pass channel 10 and pump 9 by means of which treatment liquid is bled from the wider channel and -introduced into the narrower through a jet nozzle 4. This reintroduced liquid produces a flow sufficient to move the material around in the container. Some of the liquid flow passes through the perforated part 8 of narrower channel 5 into chamber 6 which it leaves by throttle valve 7 to pass into the wider channel in a direction counter to the main liquid flow. This slows down the main liquid and prevents the material piling up against partition 3. As seen, the material is pleated in the wider channel but straightens in the narrower.
