Abstract
1342656 Photo-electric apparatus XEROX CORP 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970] 26009/71 Heading G1A Sheets separated from the tops of a plurality of poles and fed over plates 45, Figs. 1 and 2, to a xerographic copying machine 20 pass a detection station comprising a lamp DS1 and a photo-electric element V1 to detect the presence of two superposed sheets, the plates 45 being apertured to allow the passage of light, and the element V1 producing an output signal to machine control when double feed is detected. An electronic circuit (see Division G1) controlled by the element V1 comprises first circuit means to generate electrical signals representative of sheet feed condition, second circuit means to store a process signal supplied from the first circuit means and third circuit means to compare the stored signal with a succeeding signal to generate an output signal when double feed occurs.
