1342531 Boxes for U-shaped lamps PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 21457/71 Headings B8P and B8C U-shaped lamps are held in a cardboard box by lugs 33, 34 extending into the box and integral with the upper and/or lower wall 21, 22, and by inserts 35, 41 adjacent the end walls 26, 25. The insert 41 adjacent the bend in the lamp is a strip of corrugated cardboard whose corrugations run lengthwise of the strip and comprises a base part 42 abutting the wall 25, parts 43, 44 abutting the side walls 23, 24, parts 45, 46 at an angle of 35-45 degrees to the parts 43, 44 and parts 47, 48 parallel to the base part 42 and extending to it in the vicinity of parts 43, 44. If the lamp moves towards the wall 25, parts 45, 46 of the strip bend slightly, parts 47, 48 move outwardly and towards wall 25 and parts 43, 44 move inwardly at their inner ends, so cushioning the movement. The insert 35 is a block of foamed material into which extend the terminal pins of the lamp. The side edges of the lugs 33, 34 abut the inner edges of the limbs of the lamp to prevent transverse movement. The box may be erected from a blank.
