Abstract

1342378 Convertible stretcher - chair G J F SELE 15 Nov 1971 [18 Nov 1970] 52918/71 Heading A4J [Also in Divisions B7 and B8] A stretcher which is convertible into a chair by providing three pivotally inter-connected sections 5, 6, 7, the central one 5 of which is rotatably mounted on the upper end of a telescopic column, is adapted for use as a bed-lift by providing slides 9, 10 at the ends of the outer sections 6, 7, the slides being simultaneously movable transversely off the stretcher into a position in which they project from the stretcher, each slide incorporating couplings 20 which may be detachably engaged with connectors in the opposed edges of a cloth 21 which is adapted to cover the stretcher such that a patient supported on the cloth can be transferred between a bed and the stretcher. The slides are simultaneously moved by a pair of oppositely acting double-acting hydraulic jacks acting through a cable trained around pulleys.
