Abstract

1342280 Injection moulding machines KAWASAKI YUKO KK 19 April 1971 [18 April 1970 (2) 18 June 1970 (2) 17 July 1970] 27124/71 Heading B5A An annular space is provided between an injection cylinder 1 and an injection plunger 3, and an annular packing member 4 has an externally conical lip portion 40 adapted to be pressed against the periphery of the plunger 3 by the pressure of plastics material in the cylinder. The cylinder has an annular weir 7 which is preferably slightly eccentric, see Fig. 2 (not shown). The packing member 4 may have a cavity (41) for circulation of cooling liquid (Fig. 4, not shown). The plunger 3 may have passages 8, 9 for heating or cooling liquid. Plastics material is fed to the cylinder 1 by a ram 13 in a hopper 11 having a supply port 6 closable by a rod 15. The injection cylinder is formed of two half sections having longitudinal flanges (21) bolted together (Fig. 3, not shown). The machine is primarily for injection moulding thermosetting plastics reinforced with glass fibres.
