Abstract

1340503 P.T.F.E. products BRICO ENG Ltd 4 May 1971 [12 May 1970] 22826/70 Heading C3P Cohesive products are manufactured by compacting a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene powder and carbon powder and subjecting the compacted mixture to microwave radiation until a cohesive product is formed. The carbon powder may be powdered graphite or coke flour. In the example a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene and Bavarian carbon powder is pressed into flat discs and placed in a microwave energy field to produce fully sintered discs. Glass fibres may be added as a further constituent of the mixture.
