Abstract
1340081 Valves K W BRITTAN 19 April 1971 [21 March 1970] 13745/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division B1] A flow control valve comprises a valve body having a first passage accommodating a resilient conduit for a fluid and a radial bore communicating with the first passage containing a displaceable member movable against the resilience of the conduit to close the conduit to fluid flow. As shown applied to a valve for gas chromatographic apparatus, a number of parallel conduits are housed in a cylindrical block 20 surrounded by a rotatable actuating shell 24 which has a recess 25 into which balls 23 can move to allow the conduits to open. The resilient conduit is a P.V.C. tube or a silicone rubber tube which may have a P.T.F.E. lining. In modifications the shell has a plurality of recesses and is additionally movable axially.
