Abstract

1,239,525. Tennis post. ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT MFG. CO. Ltd. 1 April, 1970 [18 July, 1969], No. 36352/69. Heading A6D. A tennis post has built into it a tensioning device for the horizontal supporting rope of a tennis net. In the figure, sheave 11 is rotatably mounted at the top of the post so that the rope 6 passes over the sheave and extends vertically into the post to be anchored at 19 to anchor 18 attached to non-rotatable nut 17 which engages the screw-threaded spindle 12 and slides up and down the post when the spindle 12 is rotated by means of handle 3, thus relieving or applying tension to the rope; The handle 3 may be pivoted to lie within the post, protected by lid 2, when not in use.
