Abstract
1,239,258. Gelatin compositions. GAP CORP. 11 Oct., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967], No. 48422/68. Heading C3H. [Also in Division G2] U.V. absorbing composition for addition to a silver halide emulsion or for coating contiguous to a silver halide emulsion layer comprises a dispersion in (1) an aqueous hydrophilic colloid (especially gelatin) solution of (2) a solution of (a) a hydrophobic U.V. absorber of formula (in which R, R 1 and R 2 are each H, 1-20 C alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, haloalkyl, cyanoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, CN, carbalkoxy, alkyl sulphonyl, sulphamyl, N-alkyl or N-phenyl sulphamyl, carbamyl, N-alkyl, N-phenyl or N-heterocyclyl carbamyl or lactam-N-methylene; or R 1 is N,N-diethyl-N-benzyl-, N,N- diisopropyl- or N,N - di - (hydroxyethyl) sulphamyl or N,N-dimethylcarbamyl and R 2 and R are as above; or R is N,N-dimethylsulphamyl and R 1 and R 2 are as above), in (b) an organic plasticizer for (a). The composition may also contain a colour coupler.
