Abstract

1,238,955. Window guards. HOPKINS & BUCKLAND Ltd. 18 Dec., 1969 [11 Oct., 1968], No. 48183/68. Heading E1J. A window safety guard comprises a support rail A constituted by a main tube a provided with support rods b and having a further first tube d sliding telescopically at one end of the tube a and adjustably secured thereto by a spring catch in the form of a resilient sleeve a<SP>4</SP> pressing pin d<SP>1</SP> on the tube a through one of a series of holes a<SP>3</SP> in the main tube, and a second tube d<SP>2</SP>. Fig. 4a, sliding telescopically at the other end of the main tube a and provided with a pair of pins d<SP>3</SP> engaging respective arcuate slots d<SP>4</SP> in a handle D straddling the main tube a and pivoted thereon to lock the guard between the sides of the window surround. The outer ends of the tubes d, d<SP>2</SP> are provided with resilient pads d<SP>6</SP> fixed in discs d<SP>5</SP> of the tube a is adjustable longitudinally as by screw thread, in tube a<SP>4</SP>, Fig. 2. The foot of each support rod b is provided with a groov b<SP>1</SP> and a nose b<SP>2</SP> for locking in a key slot a<SP>1</SP> in a tube A<SP>1</SP> or in a foot c<SP>1</SP> fixable to the bottom of the window surround.
