Abstract
1,238,722. Conveying glassware. U. G. TABLEWARE Ltd. 20 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No.23935/68. Heading B8A. [Also in Division C1] Conveying apparatus comprises means 11 for moving along a track 10, a plurality of equidistantly-spaced rotatable spindles 12 each having an article carrier plate 16, first alignment means 24, 26, associated with the track 10, second alignment means 20, 22, associated with each spindle 12 and adapted to co-operate with the first alignment means 24, 26, and switch means 32 operable by each spindle, or by a member 22 carried thereby, and adapted to actuate a transfer device 40 positioned adjacent the track downstream of the first alignment means 24, 26. As shown, the first alignment means comprises a pair of upstanding pins 24, 26. The second alignment means comprises a first arm 22 mounted on each spindle 12 and adapted to contact the pins 24, 26. A pair of alignment rails 28, 30 engage a second arm 20 which is thereby brought into a position in which it rides between the rails and thus accurately positions the associated spindle 12. The arm 22 is then in position to operate the switch 32. This actuates a ram 36 carrying the transfer member 40 thereby discharging an article, e.g. fire-finished glassware, from a plate 16 of a carrier, at a predetermined distance upstream. The ram 36 carries a member 44 which triggers the return movement of the ram.
