Abstract

1,238,619. Feeding webs. SOC. DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES DE CREIL COMEC. 22 Jan., 1970 [23 Jan., 1969], No. 3242/70. Heading B8R. [Also in Division F2] A deflector drum, e.g. of the type described in Specification 1,166,549, for use when regulating the rate of winding of a plurality of strips of magnetic material on to a common mandrel comprises plurality of juxtaposed axially aligned wheels relatively rotatable one to the other about a common barrel, the wheels being peripherally magnetized to cause adherence of the strips to the wheels. The wheels may be of aluminium and incorporate embedded permanent magnets, or sheet magnets may be glued to the peripheries of the wheels. If the wheels are of a magnetic metal, the magnets associated with the peripheries are separated therefrom by non-magnetic material. The use of electromagnets is also envisaged.
