Abstract

1,238,558. Vapourising liquids. R. METIVIER. 6 Aug., 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 39311/69. Heading A5T. A device, suitable for use in an evaporator vessel in narcosis apparatus, for dividing a main flux into at least two secondary fluxes comprises a main chamber and at least two secondary chambers, communication between these secondary chambers and the main chamber being by identical holes in the intervening wall, some of which holes may be blanked off by a movable shutter. When used to control the concentration of anaesthetic vapour in narcosis apparatus, gas is fed through a filter 12 into the main chamber 1 which is connected to coaxial secondary chambers 2, 3 by holes 6, 6a respectively. Some of the holes 6a may be blanked off by a shutter 8, attached to a rod 17 controlled externally by a button 16. The central secondary chamber 3 is connected via a duct 13 to an evaporator 14 which is in turn connected to the outer secondary chamber 2 by a duct 15 which may be blanked off by a shutter 18, rigidly mounted on rod 17, to prevent leakage of anaesthetic vapour when the apparatus is not in use. A gas outlet 10 is provided in the outer chamber.
