[Also in Division F2] In a horizontal rotary drum washing machine, the ends of the drum 16 are mounted on a shaft 18 or shafts which projects or project from each end of the drum 16 and are mounted in resilient vibration damping devices mounted on the base, one end of the shaft or one shaft-being connected to a drive unit 12 rigidly mounted on the base by a belt drive 26, 28. As shown, the drum 16 is secured to a shaft 18 sealed into the ends of stationary tub 14 by seals 20 mounted in flanged bearings 22. Each bearing 22 contains a disc-like component 30 with a central bearing for shaft 18 and, at its circumference, radially acting metal bonded cushioning members 32 rigidly secured to the machine frame. Instead of members 32 hydraulic or pneumatic cushions or helical spring/shock absorber combinations may be used.
