1,238,195. Ejector/extractor mechanism. G. JAY. 28 Oct., 1968 [30 Oct., 1967], No. 51104/68. Heading F3C. An over and under weapon has ejector/extractor mechanism comprising heads 4 having pusher rods 4<SP>1</SP> co-operating with sliding hammers 5 urged by springs 7, the hammers having parts 5<SP>2</SP> co-operable with notches 8<SP>2</SP> on pivoting ejector sears 8. When the gun is being closed faces 10<SP>2</SP> on fixed ribs 10<SP>1</SP> cock the hammers, the closing of the gun positioning sears 8 with the notches 8<SP>2</SP> clear of the hammers. On the opening of the unfired gun the hammers move forward to press on pusher rods 4<SP>1</SP> and extract the cartridges. If a cartridge has been fired the trigger action moves the sliding link 13 forward to force the sliding pivoted lever 11 against the rear face 8<SP>3</SP> of the sear, the other end of which rises to engage the appropriate hammer to hold it back, during subsequent breaking, until that other end is depressed by face 10<SP>3</SP> of rib 10<SP>1</SP>. The released hammer then moves forward to strike the pusher rods 4<SP>1</SP> and eject the fired cartridge.
