Abstract
1,237,928. Degreasing leather, &c. FERENTZI & KESSLER. 18 Nov., 1968, No. 54637/68. Heading DIL. [Also in Division C6] Sheep skins, or other skins, hides or leather, preferably sewn together as in Specification 1,237,929, are wet treated by being passed between a pair of endless belts 17, 18 the juxtaposed runs of which pass between pairs of rollers 3 and 6, 4 and 7, 5 and 8 immersed in the treating liquid in a bath 1, each pair of rollers being held together under pressure. The liquid may be a degreasing solvent, a tanning liquid, or other liquid used for steeping, washing, currying, pickling or dyeing. The liquid enters the bath via inlet pipe 21 and is removed by pipe 22; flowing counter to the direction of travel of the skins, so that the skins encounter fresh liquid just prior to leaving the bath. A pair of rollers 11, 12 urged together under a higher pressure than the immersed rollers squeeze out the liquid from the issuing skins. A pair of inlet rollers 9, 10 is also provided. The belts 17, 18 are preferably porous.
