1,237,764. Diarylethylamine derivatives. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 18 July, 1968, No. 34150/68. Heading C2C. Compounds of the general formula (W = H, Cl, F, Br, OH; X, Y = H, Cl, F, OH, C 1-3 alkoxy; Z = H, OH, CH 2 OH; R 1 = H, Me, Et; R 2 , 3 , 4 , 6 = H, Me; R 5 = H, Me, Ph, hydroxyphenyl) and their acid addition salts are prepared by (a) reducing a compound of the formula (Z<SP>1</SP> = H, OH, COOH, COOAlkyl), (b)-in the case of compounds of the formula (W<SP>11</SP> = H, OH; X<SP>11</SP>, Y<SP>11</SP> = H, OH, C 1-3 alkoxy; R<SP>1</SP> 3 = Me; R 4 , 5 = H, Me)-reducing a compound of the formula or (c)-in the ease of compounds of the formula (X<SP>11</SP> = H, OH, C 1-3 alkoxy)-condensing #- naphthol with a compound of the formula (X<SP>111</SP> = H, OH, C 1-3 alkoxy, acetoxy, propionoxy), optionally followed in each case by salt formation. The above compounds are useful in the treatment of primary arrhythmias and also have hypotensive and local anaesthetic activity. They may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
