Abstract
1,237,459. Valves. R. I. MALLINSON. 8 Sept., 1969 [6 July, 1968], No. 32395/68. Addition to 1,210,822. Heading F2V. Supplying drinking water to poultry and other livestock, is effected by means of a valve which comprises two aligned tubes 1 and 2 having different diameters, a red plastics material body portion 4 which is moulded about the tubes and is provided with screw-threaded and hexagonal portions 5 and 6 respectively for facilitating the securing of the valve in a supply pipe, and two abutting stems 7 and 12 each of which has a conical portion which co-operates with a respective end of one of the tubes 1, 2 for closing the valve. Opening of the valve is effected by applying an upward force to the free end 8 of stem 7, and retention of the stems within the valve is achieved with the aid of a plastics cap 17 or, alternatively, by the wall of the pipe into which the valve is mounted. In a modification, the two tubes 1, 2 would be substituted by a single, two-diameter tube. Furthermore, the whole valve may be coloured red, the effect of the colouring being to render the valve more attractive to poultry.
