Abstract

1,237,344. Blow-moulding; filling. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 22 Jan., 1970 [22 Jan., 1969], No. 3145/70. Heading B5A. Blow-moulded articles are formed, filled-and sealed at respective stations along a stepwise conveyer along which they are carried by their head portions by grippers. As shown in Fig. 1, a preform 7 having a flange 2 is placed on seat 12 of a conveyer 11, heated by hot air or superheated steam and transferred by collar 14 to grippers 16, 17 at station 4. At station 5, the preform is stretched by plunger 22 and blown into mould 18 by air from blowing head 19. At station 6, the article 3 is flushed by gas from tube 24 of head 23, and tested by pressure device 28. It is filled at station 7 by tube 30 and sealed at station 8 with lid 32 welded to article 3 by stamp 31. At station 9, grippers 16, 17 open and the article 3 is taken off by conveyer belt 45. The carrier (15, Fig. 2, not shown) may be linear or rotary to which gripper 16 is fixed and gripper 17 pivoted at (36). They are opened by rotating arm (40) roller (41) of which engages lug (42) of gripper 17, causing tension spring (39) joining the grippers to move beyond the pivot (36) maintaining them open. They are closed by a roller (44) on a similar rotating arm (43), causing spring (39) to move forward of the pivot (36) to retain them closed.
