Abstract

1,236,918. Vehicle suspensions. ARROW CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT Ltd. 2 July, 1968 [3 July, 1967], No. 30572/67. Heading B7D. A vehicle suspension comprises a transverse cross-shaft 14 upon which are mounted "walking beams" 22 carrying the wheels 24, and end and intermediate brackets supporting a chassis or sub-frame or platform through elastomeric springs arranged so as to provide support against angular displacement in longitudinal and transverse planes relatively to the shaft. The end brackets 20 and elastomeric springs 21 are of V-shape, diverging outwardly upwards. The intermediate brackets 17 carry V-shaped springs 18 which converge upwardly. Brackets attached to frame members 15 and 16 are connected to the springs. In the event of spring failure, the vehicle is still supported by the bracket. The frame may support a body pivoted about lugs 12 by rams connected to lugs 13. Pneumatic brake-operation cylinders are carried by the beams 22.
