Abstract
1,236,441. Electric motor driven centrifugal pumps. GRUNDFOS A.S. 30 April, 1968 [5 May, 1967], No. 20368/68. Heading H2A. An electric motor-driven pump has rotor 16 enclosed within can 12 with a partition 13 separating the rotor chamber 11 from the impeller chamber 5. The pumped liquid fills chamber 11 by leakage. flow through shaft bearings 14, 15 mounted on partition 13. The liquid can fill the other rotor end chamber by flow through passage 16. A passage 18 is provided in shaft 9 which interconnects chamber 11 with a suction region of the impeller through either hole 19 or hole 19<SP>1</SP>. These holes communicate with the impeller through holes 20, 21 to provide the required suction. This arrangement is stated to provide for removal of air on filling and slight liquid circulation around the bearing assembly.
