Abstract

1,235,721. Bag-emptying apparatus. AMBUCO Ltd. 22 Aug., 1969 [26 Aug., 1968], No. 40638/68. Heading B8C. Bags containing powder are emptied by being cut into strips by rotary cutters 14, 15, and the strips and powder are separated by a sieve 25 and then by a rotary beater 35. Each cutter 14, 15 comprises axially spaced blades or discs, and the cutter 15 is adjustable so as to vary the separation of the two cutters. The cutters 14, 15 are driven in opposite directions by a motor 22, a drive chain 20, and sprockets 21, the cutter 15 being driven at twice the speed of the cutter 14. The sieve is supported by adjustable springs 27 and is vibrated by a motor 28. The rotary beater 35 is mounted on a shaft 36 eccentrically disposed in a cylindrical chamber having an imperforate upper wall 32 and a bottom sieve 33. The rotary beater 35 is driven by a motor 38 through a chain and sprocket transmission 39 and comprises skewed blades 40 which may bear staggered brushes 41. The strips are fed from the chamber to a baler 12 via a shoot 42, and the powder separated at the sieve 25 is fed to a discharge outlet 31 through a shoot 30, to which discharge outlet 31 the powder separated by the beater 35 is fed by a screw conveyer 34 driven by the motor 38.
