Abstract
1,234,959. Piezoelectric transformers. HONEYWELL Inc. 30 Aug., 1968 [18 Sept., 1967], No. 41640/68. Heading H3U. One side of a transformer comprises a stack of piezoelectric elements 10, 12, 14, 16 having conducting strips 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 on their opposed faces whereby they are electrically connected in parallel across terminals 28, 30. The other side of the transformer comprises a single piezoelectric element 32 having conducting strips 34, 42 connected to terminals 50, 52, the sides being insulated from each other by insulation 36. A U-shaped frame 38 having arms 43, 48 with insulating members 40, 49 restrains the piezoelectric elements against thickness expansion whereby an input signal coupled to one side of the transformer to cause expansion and contraction of the elements or element of that side produces contraction and expansion of the element or elements of the other side to generate an output signal.
