Abstract

1,234,731. Packaging. CARL DROHMANN G.m.b.H. 10 Jan., 1969 [13 Jan., 1968], No. 1605/69. Heading B8C. A machine for wrapping in shrinkable foil, objects of different heights, e.g. piles of newspapers, first compresses each package to a predetermined pressure an adjustment being made for its height, and then wraps and shrinks the package under physical pressure, and then cools it. The objects G from conveyer 1 are first compressed by pneumatic ram 2, 3, and then by ram 9 having rollers and forced through a wrapping foil F by pusher 10 or 11 from rolls 12, 13. The pusher 10 or 11 is then retracted and the wrapping is welded by hot jaws 16, 17. The roller track 19 then takes the package under heavy pressure plates 22 on conveyer 23 where it is heated and shrunk and then cooled by blowers 25. The pressure plates are carried on chains 21, 28 moving at the same speed as the conveyer.
