Abstract

1,234,767. Capacitor transducers. DECCA Ltd. 26 Nov., 1968 [18 Sept., 1967], No. 42420/67. Heading H4J. In a capacitor transducer, e.g. microphone or loud-speaker, a rigid, perforated conductive plate 14 is spaced from a diaphragm comprising a sheet 10 of non-conductive dielectric material having a conductive film 11 only on its surface remote from the plate 14. The surface of the plate 14 nearer the diaphragm has a layer 13 of non-conductive dielectric material with perforations aligned with those in the plate 14. The layer 13 and the sheet 10 may be of polyethylene terephthalate. A rectangular spacer 12 spaces the sheet 10 from the layer 13. The spacer 12 may be between the sheet 10 and the layer 13, but is preferably a raised rim integral with the plate 14. In push-pull loud-speakers there is a single diaphragm 30, 31, 32 between two perforated plates 33, 34 (Fig. 5) or a single perforated plate 45 (Fig. 6) is between two diaphragms 48. An array of transducers may be in a flat or curved plane or planes. Polarizing voltage is applied through resistance and audio signals are applied through a transformer.
