Abstract
1,233,988. Herbicides containing dialkylamine alkylene ethers. SCM CORP. 20 May, 1969 [5 June, 1968], No. 25770/69. Heading A5E. A selective pre-emergent herbicidal composition comprises a compound selected from (a) #-di-lower alkylamine lower alkylene ether of the formula: in which X is halogen, A is monocyclic arylene, R is C 1 -C 6 alkylene, and R' and R" are like or dissimilar C 1 -C 6 alkyl and (b) stable tertiary amine salts thereof together with a solid diluent or carrier or a liquid diluent or carrier containing a surface-active agent. Illustrative examples employ as the active material #-diethylaminoethylene-p-chlorophenylene ether and #-diethylaminoethylene-p-chlorophenylene ether hydrochloride. The composition finds use in the prevention of common needs such as mustard, yellow foxtail, barngrass, crabgrass, morning glory, piguced and rape amongst field crops such as corn and cotton.
