In a double friction disc clutch wherein presser plates 2, 4 are urged apart by a diaphragm spring 3 to clamp driven discs 5, 6 against an end plate 1 of a clutch cover 31 and against a driving flywheel 30, the presser plates are connected to the clutch cover 31 by flexible tangential straps 18, 21 secured by bolts 35, 36 to the cover 31 at axially and peripherally staggered points 20, 23. The clutches are disengaged by radial release levers 12, 14 respectively connected by compression and tension rods 8, 15 to the presser plates 2, 4. A screw 10 carried by the lever 12 and engaging the rod 8 may be adjusted to compensate for wear
