Abstract

1,233,110. Thermal switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 1 Dec., 1969 [29 Nov., 1968], No. 56727/68. Heading H1N. [Also in Division H2] An overload protective device 20 comprises a positive temperature coefficient thermistor 21 connected in a protected circuit 23 and arranged to be self heated through its transition temperature when overload occurs. A bimetallic switch is operated by the heat produced and opens or closes contacts 26 to effect an alarm or control operation. One or both contacts 26 may be carried by bimetallic strips 24 held in thermal contact with the thermistor 21 by a tight-fitting sleeve 25 of insulating material, e.g. thermoplastic tubing, filled with thermosetting resin.
