A semi-trailer has a fifth wheel mounting 12 and a frame of substantially X configuration in plan comprising members 17, 18 extending from standard container securing points 20 towards the centre of the vehicle where they are united into a box section 21. Peripheral framing 24 and transverse members 25 support the trailer flooring.
