Abstract

1,230,762. Fluid filter. PLENTY & SON Ltd. 8 May, 1968 [6 June, 1967], No. 26121/67. Headings B1D and BIT. [Also in Division F2] A filter basket 8 is located in a housing closed by a cover 16 which screws on to the housing by means of three pairs of lugs 18, 20, on the cover and housing, whose co-operating surfaces lie on part of a helix of 1 inch pitch. The cover is fitted by moving axially on to the housing, with lugs correctly oriented, then rotating a fraction of a turn to tighten fully. The housing is connected to a high pressure gas line, and a lug 30 on the cover prevents its being removed until a pressure release valve 24..28 has been opened, valve handle 28 then clearing lug 30. The cover is untightened from the housing using a tangentially extendig screw clamp (Fig. 3 not shown). The housing has a jack (46), to lift the cover and basket 8 from the housing (Fig. 1 not shown), and a valve-closed drain 56.
