Abstract
1,228,941. Looms, shuttle braking. Z & D INDUSTRIES Inc. 30 April, 1968 [1 May, 1967], No. 20346/68. Heading DIE. Shuttle braking. Photoelectric devices 72, 72' are energised by a departing and arriving shuttle 78 with a time delay between the two signals which are fed to a gate 88 connected to a time delay 90 which, after the predetermined delay, operates a solenoid 48 to apply pressure to a swell 40 to stop the shuttle. In (Fig. 3, not shown) the circuit includes a high speed clock which measures the time delay of the photoelectric devices 72, 72' and hence the shuttle speed, and operates the solenoid 48 in accordance with that speed. Shuttle stop motion. If the shuttle is not correctly boxed the swell moves further than usual and pivots a dagger 62 into the path of the sley 64. Before the dagger is operated, in the event of shuttle non arrival, a solenoid 102 knocks off the starting handle declutch and brake the loom.
