Abstract

1,228,643. Logic circuits. COMPAGNIE DES COMPTEURS. 23 May, 1968 [1 June, 1967], No. 24631/68. Heading H3T. Logic apparatus liable to malfunction in response to excessively low bias voltage has a threshold and output circuit 2-8 and 15-20 responsive to values of the bias supply below the threshold for providing a control signal to prevent malfunction of the logic apparatus and the control signal is maintained for an interval following increase of the supply above the threshold value by a delay means 12, 14. As shown, the logic apparatus which may be monostable, bistable or memory circuits, is connected to bias supply 100, 101 and is controlled via one or more outputs S 1 , S 2 . The output So may be connected to the base of an output transistor of a logic circuit. With the input supply at its normal value Ua, Zener diodes 15 and 2 and transistors 18 and 5 are on and transistors 20 and 7 are off, so that no control output is given at S 1 , S 2 . When the input voltage Ua (Fig. 4, not shown) falls below Un, Zener diode 15 turns off. This turns transistors 18 and 5 off and 20, 7 on, so that a control input is fed via diodes D 1 , D 2 to the logic circuits which are held in a determined state such as to lock, delay or set them in a preferred state in the case of monostable or bistable circuits or to block a memory. Zener diode 2 remains on until the voltage Va falls below Vn after a delay determined by the capacitor 14 and resistor 12. When the input. supply Ua is again increased above the value Un Zener diode 15 turns on as does transistor 18 and transistor 20 turns off. Transistor 5 does not turn on until the voltage Va has increased above Vn (at time t 2 ) when Zener diode 2 turns on. Then transistor 7 turns off and the control signal to the logic circuit at S 1 , S 2 is removed. The capacitor 14 and resistor 12 delay the rate of increase of the voltage Va. A Zener diode 13 regulates the supply Va. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown), using only circuit section B of Fig. 2 a diode (10) and capacitor (9) shunt the resistor 3 and Zener diode 2, resistor 4 so as to provide delay in removing the control signal at S 1 , S 2 but the diode (10) and a resistor (11) allow rapid discharge of the capacitor (9) when the voltage Va falls below Vn.
