Abstract
1,226,450. N-acyl-carbamoyl halides. FARBENPABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 5 Aug., 1969 [27 Aug., 1968], No. 39062/69. Heading C2C. N - substituted - N - acyl - carbamic acid halides are prepared by reaction of a carboxylic acid halide with an isocyanate at - 100 to + 15 C. in the presence of a halide of an element of Groups IB to VB or IV A of the Periodic Table, or of a substance capable of at least partial conversion to such a halide in the reaction mixture. Substances convertible to halide catalysts are metal powders and organic and inorganic salts. Most of the products are novel. The N-acyl carbamyl halides may be converted to the corresponding urethanes by reaction with phenols.
