Abstract

1,225,880. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 Nov., 1969 [9 Nov., 1968], No. 54436/69. Heading H1D . A cathode-ray tube comprises an electron gun 2, a pair of electrostatic deflection plates 4, 5 and an electrostatic cylindrical lens for correcting deflection defocusing including a flat grid-like electrode 21 between two electrodes 8, 10 with apertures 15, 17 centred with respect to the gun axis, elongated and extending in the direction of deflection produced by plates 4, 5. The grid 21 is connected to a potentiometer 23 in series with diodes 24, 25 in a control circuit 33. As shown, a similar lens 11, 22, 13 is placed in front of another pair of deflection plates 6, 7.
