Abstract

1,224,528. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. AQUA-CHEM Inc. 20 Dec., 1968, No. 60819/68. Heading B5K. [Also in Division B1] The end of a semi-permeable membrane tube 10 which contains chemically bound water is heat-sealed by dipping the end into alcohol which replaces the water, and then subjecting the end to heat and pressure. The use of a cellulose acetate membrane is described. Fig. 3 shows the membrane anchored in a plastic container 15 to form a kit for demonstrating osmosis. A sample of salt is supplied at 21.
