Abstract

1,224,163. Rotary cylinder engines. WILLOW RADIAL ENGINE Ltd. July 24, 1968 [April 25, 1967], No.18894/67. Heading F1B. The stationary casing of a rotary cylinder engine includes an inlet port 27, a port leading to a combustion chamber 28 and an exhaust port 30. Pairs of pistons 14, 15 are inter-connected by a link 18 having arms 22 with follower rollers 23 engaging an eccentric cam track 24, the link 18 being slotted at 21 to surround the link 19 for pistons 16, 17. The crown of each piston is inclined to form a wedge-shaped combustion space 28. A cooling fan 36 supplies air through casing 41 to blow through the rotor side walls, the escaping air being mixed with the exhaust gases. Lubricating oil from a supply pipe 32 is fed through passages 33 in stub shafts 10, 11 to passages 35 in radial arms 8 for lubricating the cylinders. Cooling water is supplied to chamber 44 is the casing.
