Abstract

1,223,262. Packaging articles. HENRY SQUIRE & SONS. 22 April, 1968 [29 April, 1967], No. 19872/67. Heading B8C. In a package of the kind in which an article is accommodated in a flanged open mouthed shell or container formed by shaping a plastics sheet, and a closure sheet is sealed to the flange, the shaped portion of the shell is surrounded by locating means such as a rib 15 or projections forming a rectangular or circular boundary for locating the shell in support means during filling and sealing. Shells for differently shaped articles may have the same shape of locating means to enable the same support to be used for all. A plurality of articles are packaged in compartments 11, 14, which are then sealed by a card to form a multiple pack which may be divided into individual packs. The sheet, which is transparent, has locating means 15 in the form of rectangular depressions. Perforations may be made between successive packs to aid separation. The periphery 13 of the locating means may be other than rectangular, e.g. circular. The cover card may project beyond the packs in order to provide space for printed matter, Fig. 3 (not shown).
