Abstract

1,222,601. Erecting collapsed boxes; endless conveyers. INDUSTRIE-WERKE KARLSRUHE A.G. 28 May, 1968 [9 June, 1967], No. 25446/68. Headings B8A and B8C. A device for transferring collapsed boxes 1 from a magazine 4 to a feed device 2 of a carton handling or filling machine comprises two rocking levers 5, 6, which engage the forwardly and rearwardly facing sides 25, 26, of a box erected by a sucker arm 23 in a pick-up position and move the box between guides 7, 8 to a transfer position where it is engaged by holders 31, 32 of the feed device. Rocking levers 5, 6 are reciprocated about pivots 9, 10, respectively, from an arm 20 pivotally connected to a rod 16 driven by a cam 13. Lever 6 is fixed to the arm 20 and lever 5 is fixed to an arm 17 which is pivotally connected to the arm 20 by a rod 19. An erected box is pushed down the guide 8 to the transfer position, where a member 27 pivoted at 28 descends to depress the box on to a guide rail 33 and in between a pair of projections 31, 32 of the feed device, which is preferably an endless chain. The height of guide 7 is adjustable. In order to accommodate boxes of different widths pivot 10 may be movable and one of the rocking levers may have a sliding extension for contacting the corresponding box side.
