Abstract

1,221,559. Clamps. ZWICKLY Ltd. and R. V. N. HITCHMAN. 2 Sept., 1969 [30 Oct., 1968], No. 51451/68. Heading E2B. [Also in Division A4] A hose clamp comprises a base plate 5 a pair of opposed clamping jaws 6 pivotally mounted on said base plate about axes perpendicular to said base and the free end of each of which is provided with an arcuate hose engaging surface 6a, the clamp having stop means 9 for limiting the pivotal movement of said jaws in one direction and spring means 8 for biassing said jaws towards said stop means, the arrangement being such that a hose positioned 'between the jaws can be moved axially in one direction but is held against axial movement in the opposite direction. In the construction shown the stop means is integral with the base plate and the jaws are connected to the base plate by pivot pins 7, one of the pivot pins passing through a hole in the base plate and the other passing through a slot so that its position relative to the other pivot pin can be adjusted. The spring means consists of two helical springs each connected at one of its ends to the clamping jaw and at its opposite end to a plate slidably mounted on the stud projecting from the base plate the plate being secured to the stud by nuts so that its position can be adjusted along the stud to regulate the tension of the spring.
