Abstract

1,219,676. Stamping. DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc. 31 Oct., 1968 [3 Nov., 1967], No. 51640/68. Heading B3Q. A tool for deforming a wall 11 by fluid applied under pressure against the wall comprises a tubular body 26 having an inlet 28 and an outlet 39 for the fluid, and means for mounting the tool on a support 14. As shown, the tool delivers water, grease, kerosene, air &c. to a space 15 between a mounting ring 14 and the wall 11 which is to be deformed against a gasket 12 on a pipe 13. A cap 17 is removed from an oblong hole 16 in the ring 14 by a lever 34 on the tool and the hole used for mounting the tool, by means of an oblong foot 40 which is turned after insertion through the hole. A screw-threaded sleeve 44 is turned to clamp the ring 14 between the foot 40 and an end section 45 of the tool. Within the tool is a spring-pressed valve 59 having a stem 58 contacting the wall 11. When the wall has been deformed by the desired amount, the valve closes against its seating 65 in an adjustable core 62 to interrupt the supply of fluid to space 15.
