Abstract

1,219,577. Magnetic heads. MARCONI CO. Ltd. 22 Feb., 1968 [27 April, 1967], No. 19482/67. Heading G5R. A magnetic read-out apparatus comprises a plurality of Hall generators connected in series and positioned relative to the record such that the information read out by the generators at any time is in phase. The assembly may be used with tape, disc, or drum records and the generators arranged across or parallel to the track to be read out. Fig. 1 shows Hall generators H1, H2, H3 supplied with a control current Y and connected by conductors SC to output terminals O The information is recorded as regularly spaced alternate North and South poles, adjacent generators being spaced apart a distance equal to the spacing between two similar poles. The generators may be divided into groups (Fig. 2, not shown) each group being supplied with a separate control current. Such an arrangement permits two groups to be connected to give a push-pull or differential output. Fig. 4 shows generators H1, H2, H3, H4 arranged across a relatively wide track containing information recorded at irregular spacing, the generators receiving a control current Y<SP>1</SP> via conductors CC and connected in series by conductors SC.
