Abstract

1,219,432. Wall structure of framed building; fixing window frames; panels. JOSEF GARTNER & CO. 5 July, 1968, No. 32312/ 68. Headings E1B, E1J and E1W. Facade elements such as framed windows 6 and breast plates 7 each closing a bay in the framework of a building have peripheral flanges 8, 9 respectively which are urged to bear through insulating strips 14 against steel frame members 3, 4, 5 by screws 12 received by screwthreaded holes in the frame members, the flanges being of approximately the same thickness and the facade elements being of approximately the same thickness, the breast plates 7 having a plane sheet metal back lining 28 and a sheet metal front lining 27 which at its periphery is bent rearwardly and outwardly and is connected to the back lining 28 by an insulating spacing and sealing strip 30 whereby the flange 9 is formed. Preferably, the breast plates 7 contain honeycomb paper board insulating plates 29. The outer faces of the framing members at the location of the screwthreaded holes are provided with reinforcing pieces such as 20, 20a. Cross members 4 have hollow cross sectional parts projecting within the building to form window ledges, and are secured to the upright framing members 3 by U-shaped connectors 22, Fig. 5. The cross members 5 are shaped at 5b to form curtain rails.
