Abstract
1,217,311. Dart-board installation. B. BRIERLEY. 15 Feb., 1968 [16 Nov., 1966 (3)], Nos. 45924/66; 51306/66 and 51307/66. Heading A6S. A dart board installation comprises a board, different areas of which board are shown by different emblems, such that when one of said areas is pierced by a dart a relay is actuated, the contacts of the relays being so arranged that darks must strike a pre-determined combination of areas before a signal is actuated which causes a prize-delivery means to operate. The board consists of a backing 45 which may be of hog's bristle except at 46 where strands of copper wire are incorporated. Layers 48 and 51, of non-conductive material, form a sandwich together with mesh 49 of a conductor such as bronze wire. Contact between 46 and 49 is established by the point 52 of a dart. The hit may be displayed on an electrical annunciator, which may also indicate subsequent target areas to be pierced for a prize-winning series of throws. Anti-cheat means may be provided which detect (e.g. by light beam and photo-electric cell) when a player comes too near the board.
