Abstract

1,217,378. Embossing. BILLERUDS A.B. 25 Sept., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 45462/68. Heading B6J. The surface friction of paper is increased by passing the paper having a moisture content such as to be plastic-through the nip formed between a resilient surface, e.g. a rubber covered roller or an endless rubber blanket, and hard-faced roller bearing on its surface a network of grooves, each of said grooves being at least 50 microns in width. The hard roller is run at a peripheral speed at least 5 per cent faster than the resilient surface.
