Abstract

1,216,599. Container closures; portable containers. AMERICAN FLANGE & MFG. CO. Inc. 14 Oct., 1968 [30 Oct., 1967], No. 48571/68. Headings B8D and B8T. A plastics container closure comprises an annular dispensing member 2 having means for engaging a container wall, a sealing diaphragm 16, a pull tab 17, and a cap 3 which snap-fits on to the member 2 and stores the pull-tab 17 between the top 20 of the cap and the sealing diaphragm 16. As shown the dispensing member 2 is fitted into a container wall 40 and a pouring spout 30 is loosely held in the member 2. When the diaphragm is removed, the spout 30 may be pulled out, Fig. 5 (not shown), so that the stored material can be dispensed. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), a second weakened zone (54) is provided on the dispensing member (51) below the closure cap (52) so as to prevent illicit removal of the member (51) intact.
