Abstract
1,216,121. Injection moulding. IMI DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 11 Feb., 1969 [28 Feb., 1968], No. 9639/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Divisions B3 and F2] A mould for a mixer tap (see Division F2) in a screw type injection moulding machine, comprises two parts 21, 22, the part 22 having mould cavity 31 which with inserts 23, 25, 38, 41 define the shape of the body 1, split sleeves 30 to form the screw-threaded tail parts 3, a cylindrical nut 32 to form a connection for an outlet 14, three sprue channels 46 for the injection of molten plastics, e.g. acetal resin, and ejector sleeves 48 secured to a composite plate 49 and sliding on core rods 47. To open the mould, part 22 with the insert 38 is withdrawn from the part 21 and the moulded component. The component is then ejected, before the sleeve 30 is released, and the inserts 41 and nut 32 are unscrewed from the component by inserting a bar through holes 45 and 35, respectively. The tail parts can be formed without screw-threads.
