Abstract

1,215,419. Refrigerating. TRANE CO. 31 Oct., 1969 [5 Nov., 1968], No. 53532/69. Heading F4H. In an absorption refrigeration system having a condenser 12, one or more generators 14, an evaporator 16 and an absorber 18 in a closed circuit utilizing a solution of lithium bromide and water as refrigerant and absorbent respectively, the absorbent diluted in the absorber passes through a conduit 74 and heat exchanger 54 to the generator and concentrated absorption solution flows from the generator through a conduit 52 and the heat exchanger 54 to a further heat exchanger 58 which is cooled by a heat exchange fluid from a heat sink source 78. The heat exchanger 58 is situated in the conduit 52 midway between the heat exchanger 54 and a pump 64. A valve 80 regulates the flow of coolant to the heat exchanger 58 in dependence on the temperature of the solution leaving the exchanger 58. In a modification the flow of absorbent from the generator is cooled in the exchanger 54 and then mixed with dilute solution from the absorber prior to introduction into the exchanger 58.
