Abstract

1,215,344. Moulding bricks. BLOCKLEYS Ltd. 5 Aug., 1969 [7 May, 1968], No. 11059/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division E1] A column of clay 12, Fig. 1, severed from extrudate 10 is pushed by a pusher 13 past wires 16 to divide the column into a plurality of standard building bricks, one face of each brick so formed being simultaneously provided with a groove by means of rotary cutters 18 and associated chisels 25, Fig. 2. Cutters 18 are arranged in pairs on an angle section frame member 20, each pair being placed between a pair of wires 16. Chisels 25 are supported on a further angle-section frame member 23, the material removed by the chisels passing thereover on to a conveyer running over the horizontal portion of member 23 (see Fig. 1). The depth of the groove may be the same as or somewhat less than slits (17), Fig. 4 (not (shown), made by cutters 18 (see Figs. 5 and 6, not reproduced). Cutters 18, preferably of abrasion-resisting steel, are mounted on a shaft (19), Fig. 3 (not shown), which may or not be driven, and are lubricated via ducts (34) and grooves (35).
